About PRS Guitars
PRS guitars are a brand of high end electric guitars from Maryland, USA. Originally designed and built by luthier Paul Reed Smith, PRS guitars are seen as a luxury guitar brand. Since they were first displayed at the 1985 NAMM show, they have proved to be a big hit.
They are a great choice for performing and recording guitarists, especially in the rock and pop genres. Artists like Mark Tremonti, Mark Holcomb and Ted McCarty have each made the brand very recognisable with their signature guitars. The launch of the PRS Silver Sky and SE Silver Sky Series have also been released as signature guitars of John Mayer. Paul Reed Smith guitars have found a strong following from players looking for top quality instruments with tones to match.
They are particularly famous for their incredibly figured wood tops and exotic colours. Popular choices include green and grey guitars. PRS use their own hand-wound pickups and tremolo systems designed by Smith. The most famous and instantly recognisable PRS models are the Custom 22 and the Custom 24. The more affordable PRS SE range puts PRS guitars into the hands of many more players and has hugely increased the appeal of the brand.
What Makes a PRS Guitar Different?

- Own brand pickups have been designed with top tone in mind
- A range of electric guitar models available for many styles but particularly well suited to rock
