Customer reviews

Overall Rating 4/5 (1 reviews)

This is a good little recreation of the '61 Les Paul SG. It feels good and sounds the business, but I think would benefit from having the frets dressed and the ends properly finished - it's a shame no one other than Gibson themselves fit the binding to the level of the top of the frets and file it down between them. The only thing I was a bit disappointed with is the scratchplate. It should neatly follow the curve of the woodwork but doesn't. Looking at pictures of other '61 SGs from Epiphone, other than the expensive one, it does appear to be common across the board. The exclusive colour appeals to me - the main reason for the purchase, as it is very reminiscent of the old Westbury Standard I had back in the 80's. All in all, a nice guitar and a great partner for the Pelham blue P90 Special I acquired recently.
