The EVH Limited Edition Frankenstein Relic Series Vintage Sunburst Maple Fingerboard is a unique spin on one of the most recognisable guitars of all time.

The Vintage Sunburst finish is a slightly more subdued alternative to the classic 5150 red with black and white stripes design that's closely associated with the Frankenstein, but that doesn't do much to tame the stripped down and hot rodded aesthetic of the guitar. While the original Frankenstein was a collection of different parts Edward Van Halen pieced together on his quest to find the ultimate "stunt" guitar, this stunning tribute captures the very essence of what EVH in the early 80s was about, with a cool classic rock twist.

At it's core, the Frankenstein is a stripped down ergonomic instrument that has the player in mind, from the Floyd Rose tremolo system with D-Tuna®, to the custom EVH pickups, down to the easy access truss rod adjustment wheel at the base of the neck, the Frankenstein is built for speed, without feeling too sterile or tamed.

The Frankenstein is rugged, raunchy, and has a tone that will punch you firmly in the guts.

The Frankenstrat

As a self confessed "tone chaser", Eddie Van Halen was not shy of pushing the boundaries of what a guitar is meant to be. The Frankenstein is the result of Eddie trying to create his ultimate instrument with what was available at the time. Not concerned with having things look traditional or "correct", Ed was able to strip down the Strat design to its most essential elements and select the features from other guitars he felt were missing from the design. The outcome is the guitar equivalent of a tuner car, a barebones machine built for speed with a single hot pickup and the all-important locking tremolo system.

EVH Wolfgang Pickup

This guitar's outstanding sounds come courtesy of a single custom wound EVH Wolfgang humbucker. The Alnico 2 in the bridge position delivers that powerful EVH tone with tonnes of punch and articulation.

D-Tuna

Switch down to drop-D with the flick of a finger. This effortless retuning is a great feature of this guitar and will come in handy more than you could ever understand until you have it. This will make your song transition smoother than ever!
