The Precision bass continues to be the foremost model in terms of Fender basses and is an important part of the American Performer Range. As with the other instruments, Fender have kept things largely close to how we’d expect them to be with such classic designs, though there are one or two positive refinements in here!

First up, the body is Alder and the neck is Maple. This example is finished in Arctic White and has a Rosewood fingerboard. Fender have opted for a satin-finished Modern C neck carve since it’s one that all musicians seem to be able to agree on! The spec in general is an accumulation of popular consensus measurements: a 9.5” fingerboard radius, 34” scale length, medium jumbo frets…this bass is designed and assigned to appeal to as many players as possible, cementing its brief as an instrument for working players of all styles and gig types.

Two ‘Yosemite’ pickups are used here, fitting in with the rest of the American Performer series. These are specially wound in America for this bass and come in the extremely versatile ‘PJ’ configuration. This means you get both a Precision Bass split-coil pickup and a Jazz bass single coil. We’re very happy to see this decision being made here since it really is the best of both worlds! There isn’t much that this bass can’t handle!

A ‘greasebucket’ tone control lets you dial back the treble frequencies effectively without adding mud to your sound. All in all, this is a very versatile and professional sounding bass.
