What we say:

At A Glance:

Known for playing bass in bands such as Beck, and Nine inch Nails, Justin Meldal-Johnsen is certainly and accomplished player! This particular Mustang Signature bass is modeled after a personal favourite of his, an offset shortscale built in 1967.

What gives this bass it's punchy sound are it's Seymour Duncan single custom split single-coil pickup. Combined with a bolted on "C" shaped neck, fixed bridge with four saddles, and string through body construction, this bass boasts fantastic sustain and a stable tone.

As this is a short-scale bass, the scale length is just 30". This means that the string tension is a little lower and the frets are slightly closer together, making this bass particularly comfortable to play!

Features We Love:

Justin Meldal-Johnsen Signature

Modeled after Justin's favourite, you know this bass is great! To have such an accomplished player design a guitar means that you can trust it will be fantastic and set up to cope with the highest levels of playing!

Shortscale

With a 30" scale length, this bass is incredibly comfortable to play! As a result of the shorter scale, the string tension is somewhat lower, and the frets are closer together which means that apart from the physical size of the bass being easier to hold, the bass itself is much easier to play than more traditional scale lengths.

Pros:

  • As a signature model from a seasoned pro, this is a bass you can trust!
  • The short scale length increases comfort and playability
