Shure KSM8 Black Dualdyne Microphone
The Shure KSM8 is a state of the art dynamic vocal microphone that features Shure's groundbreaking Dualdyne capsule. The development of Dualdyne involved Shure completely reinventing their manufacturing process. The result is possibly the best dynamic vocal microphone of all time, with a stunningly clear sound, excellent rear and side sound rejection and an innovative internal shockmount design, the KSM8 brings what you can expect from a dynamic vocal mic straight into the 21st century.
The World's First Dual Diaphragm Dynamic
Shure have a long legacy of pioneering technology that has completely changed not only what is possible with a microphone, but also how other manufacturers approach microphone design, and with Dualdyne, Shure have yet again redefined what you can expect from a microphone. Imagine a vocal mic that can be handheld, isn't prone to feedback or handling noise and doesn't experience any nasty proximity effect muddiness that you get with a typical dynamic microphone.
That in essence is what Dualdyne has to offer. Using a dual-diaphragm capsule and some very clever math, Dualdyne filters out the mud and distortion caused by the proximity effect. The result is mic with a huge sweet spot, featuring the warmth and versatility you expect from a dynamic, but with natural clarity more akin to a condenser.
Directionality
The innovative Dualdyne capsule makes the KSM8 extremely directional, meaning you can use it on loud stages and get a natural and clear signal from your singer with minimal spillage from the other instruments.
Advanced Pneumatic Shock Mount
While the KSM8 works well in a stand, it's also the ultimate handheld mic. Its Advanced Pneumatic Shock Mount protects the capsule from any rumbling caused by handling and the cable creeping in through the casing. Even the most animated singers will get a crystal clear signal.
Hear the KSM8 in Action
If you'd like to hear what the KSM8 can do, please take a look at our guitarguitar Shure Sessions video below. We chose to use the KSM8 on Dylan John Thomas' voice to highlight how the mic doesn't distort or become muddy even when he's singing close to the capsule. Superb!
