Introduced in 1980, the SG R1 was a limited run of 200 units, distinguished by it's active electronics designed by Bob Moog (first introduced on the RD model). This would be the first ever SG with active electronics, and also has a 1/4" thicker body to accommodate the electronics.

Body: 3 out of 5 - Instrument has been used and shows evidence of its life in the forms of checking, chips and other superficial wear and tear. Metal parts and hardware may be mildly tarnished or stained and cosmetically imperfect.
Neck: 3 out of 5 - The frets have mild wear and/or pitting and may require profiling or replacement in future if the guitar is played extensively, although this work is not required immediately and the guitar plays and frets cleanly at present.
Additional Information: This Gibson has come to us in great condition for its age with lacquer checking all over, some small dings, swirl/hazing and some mild buckle rash.
This guitar has been restrung with D'Addario strings.
