What we say:
At A Glance:
The Gibson G Standard Faded 61 with Maestro Vibrola Vintage Cherry is yet another fantastic guitar from Gibson.
Taking inspiration from the original 60s gibson that was introduced as a brand new variation to breathe new life into the at-the-time waning popularity of the original Les Paul, the SG would go on to be one of Gibson's most popular designs. The slimmer, lightweight body with unparalleled access to the dusty end of the fingerboard made it a natural for the exploding rock & roll movement.
This stunning take on that design features period correct features like the body contours, SlimTaper C neck profile and Maestro Vibrola, paired with solid, dependable modern features like the GraphTech and a pair of stunning Gibson BurstBucker pickups, meaning you're rigged and ready for those classic SG sounds.
Features We Love:
Inspired By The Original
The SG Standard Faded 61 is directly inspired by those first runs of Gibson's inimitable double cutaway. It features the classic contoured body shape on the mahogany body, and the original profile SlimTaper C neck.
Slim Taper Neck Profile
The neck profile of a guitar is greatly important to how it feels when playing. The Slim Taper shape on this model offers comfort for the player and gives access to the higher frets allowing you to reach all the way to the top of the fretboard when you're rocking out! However, this is a Gibson after all, although named 'Slim Taper' there is still plenty to grab on to.
Maestro Vibrola
The classic Maestro Vibrato allows for tasteful vibrato shifts and features a stunning ornate design that we think makes the SG look even cooler!
60s Burstbucker Pickups and Orange Drop Capacitors
The Burstbucker 61R and 61T pickups selected for this model offer a little more heat and sizzle than your standard Burstbuckers, while the Orange Drop capacitors are the special sauce in this guitar's tone, where rolling back on the tone knobs gives you a rich creamy tone that maintains clarity. With this guitar, you'll be suited to playing Blues, Crunchy Rock, and great sustained leads. It sounds wonderful!
Who Is It For?
The Blues and Rock guitarist who wants that timeless look, smooth playing experience and legendary Gibson tone.
