This Signature SG hearkens back to Tony's original 1964, a beautiful vintage looking guitar, but behind that unassuming exterior lies a true Heavy Metal monster. The original 1964 SG named "Monkey" was the instrument behind some of the most iconic riffs of all time, so it's no surprise that Gibson have used the original Monkey as the basis for this design. If it's good enough for the Godfather of Heavy Metal, it's good enough for us.

Modern Design

The original Monkey SG was heavily modified by Tony to make his signature sound possible. Gibson have taken the essence of Tony's, and using modern production techniques and knowledge, have done an incredible job of recreating the feel and sound of the original. The rounded profile of the bound mahogany neck greatly improves the ergonomics, making the riffs flow seamlessly, and with a set of chrome-covered P-90 pickups, you can rest assured that this will sound just as menacing as the original.

Attention to Detail

Gibson have pulled out all the stops with this signature model. Every inch of this model has been carefully considered, with each feature helping to recreate the look and sound of the original 1964 SG. Included in the hard case is even a reproduction of the iconic "Monkey" sticker, the namesake of the original SG. A perfect homage to the guitar that started it all.
