What we say:
At A Glance:
The Premier Bob Weir Bedford is a unique offset guitar from D'Angelico. As a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Bob required a guitar that could cover his huge back catalogue of songs. From the vintage tones of the Grateful Dead to his newer solo output, Weir's signature Bedford has been designed top authentically tap into his classic sound via a unique P-90 and single-coil pickup configuration and is accented by the stylish Matte Stone finish, ovangkol fretboard and D'Angelico's signature Deco appointments.
If you're looking for an offset guitar with a unique selection of vintage tones, it's hard to find a more tasteful option than this stunning D'Angelico.
We love this guitar's vintage style and think it would be an excellent choice for playing rock n roll, blues, jazz, soul and country music.
Features We Love:
Bob Weir Pickup Selection
Bob Weir has used his decades of experience to design a pickup selection that offers huge tonal variety. Present are Seymour Duncan Designed P-90 pickups in the neck and bridge positions with a single-coil SC-101 in between. The P-90s allow for a rich vintage tone that makes the guitar sing, while the single-coil allows for a bit of clarity and chime. Part of the guitar's beautiful character is down to the "blend" knob, which allows you to blend between the two P-90 pickups, to dial in acute tonal variations. Finally, the P-90 pickups can be split from their noiseless configuration to a broad traditional tone, furthering the guitar's ability to tap into great vintage tones.
6 Point Tremolo
The 6 Point Tremolo is a tried and tested design that is still as relevant today as it was when it was first unveiled almost 70 years ago. Sometimes the simple designs are the best and the 6 Point Tremolo reigns true to this school of thought. By attaching to the guitar's body with 6 small screws and using a weighty metal block to attach the bridge to the springs on the back of the guitar, you get a tremolo which allows for smooth bending actions without impacting the guitar's resonance, sustain and tone.
Natural Satin Set Neck
While some guitars use a glossy neck which can feel sticky, especially after long periods of playing, the Bob Weir Bedford's neck is made with a natural satin finish. The smooth natural wood finish never feels sticky or gets in the way of your playing, allowing for quick changes across the fretboard at high speed.
Pros:
- Huge range of vintage style tones
- Great resonance from the 6 Point Tremolo
- Fast and fluid playing experience
