What we say:
At A Glance:
Tom Morello, the guitarist behind Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave and his own Nightwatchman project is famous for his use and abuse of guitar noise. To achieve such sonic limits Tom modded a Designer Series Strat, adding a Floyd Rose trem, Seymour Duncan Hot Rails humbucker, universal killswitch and some other unique appointments to create one of his most identifiable touring guitars. This tribute to the original is accurate in terms of spec and looks and would be a great guitar for fans of Tom or anyone looking for a Stratocaster that pushes tone to the limit!
Features We Love:
Hardware
To create the huge amount of sounds that Tom uses, he needed a guitar that was both simple and versatile. The result is a Strat that features locking tuners, a double-locking Floyd Rose FRT2000 recessed tremolo, a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails humbucker in the bridge, Fender Vintage Noiseless single-coils in the middle and neck positions and a master killswitch toggle. You've got to admit that this is an impressive arsenal of ammunition included to create a reliable and great sounding guitar.
Unique Appointments
This isn't just a regular Strat, asides from the awesome hardware, the Soul Power Strat features some unique appointments. Including a mirrored pickguard, matching black headcap and a "Soul Power" decal that matches Tom's own guitar is included in the Fender hard case.
Killswitch
When Rage Against The Machine was starting out, Tom took it upon himself to act as the bands DJ, creating texture over the top of the solid grooving rhythm section. A big part of his sound was the staccato stuttering sections of noise that was similar to a DJ scratching and "crabbing" on the crossfader. To achieve this back in the day Tom used his pickup selector with one of the pickups muted and would toggle back and forth from the muted pickup. The Soul Power goes one better by adding a universal killswitch that mutes everything on the guitar, this can be activated and used with any pickup and tone combination, really freeing up the guitar's sonic potential.
