At it's release, the J-55 carried on the tradition of Gibson round-shoulder acoustics. One of four Jumbo guitars on offer from Gibson in the 1930s, the J-55 became a highly desired guitar decades later and is still highly regarded within the guitar community.

Carrying on from where the Gibson Hummingbird Acoustic shape started, the round-shoulder shape is highly sought after. This comes mainly from the love of it's sweet, warm tone with loud and clear high notes, singing over a balanced and defined mid-range.
