Amazing guitar at an amazing price

Brandon Q. - 3/7/2024

Much has been written about the Epiphone 1959, so I won't go through all the specs. I love this guitar, but what swung it for me is: 1. The thin satin coating on the neck makes it a pleasure to play 2. Tone-wise it's indistinguishable from many of the Gibson range - its Burstbucker pickups are the preserve of the more expensive Gibsons, and the rest of its electronics are just as good as that in the Gibson Les Pauls. 3. The top on this is stunning, but I'm still on the fence with the satin finish on the front of the guitar - but in due course it's not much effort to polish it up, so the front looks amazing, but the neck still retains the ease of playing. Basically, if you're not that fussed about having a satin neck, the Epiphone 50s may be a better choice, but otherwise the only reason not to get this would be if you want to pay to have Gibson on the headstock (and even then I don't know if any of them have a nice satin finish neck).

Lovely guitar with no issues at all.

Christopher B. - 12/1/2024

Love to feel and sound of the guitar feels as good as a Gibson at half price

James S. - 26/12/2023

Fantastic guitar and the sound and sustain from it are huge thanks to the Gibson burst buckers. I'm a telecaster fan but always wanted a les paul in my arsenal. This seemed like the best of both worlds in terms of price, quality and sound as I wasn't sure how I'd like it compared to my tele's. I'm glad I bit the bullet and bought this, I can see many happy times ahead.

I have heard a lot about this guitar. Good and bad. I can only say good. Who cares about the finish when it sounds and plays like that? Moreover, the price is unbeatable for the things you get.

PANAGIOTIS X. - 1/6/2023

Fantastic build quality and awesome sound . Well above its price point. Top job Epiphone

Just adore this guitar. I have read many reviews and I agree that there isn't much difference, if any at all between the Gibson and the Epiphone. I am a beginner guitarist and I heard learning on electric was easier, mm, I don't know really.

Wendy W. - 18/10/2022

Just brilliant in every way. I had done my research before purchasing and couldn't have asked for more. I just love this guitar, it sounds awesome.

This is a ridiculously good guitar for £750.00. When I saw the spec and read and watched a few reviews online, I knew I had to try it out. I was concerned that there would be the use Epiphone issues around the frets and was actually willing to take those on the chin and get them addressed if everything else was as expected. I shouldn’t have been worried though, this guitar is stupidly good! It’s so good, you have to question how any money is being made on them… The weight is right (just under 9lb for mine), Gibson USA pups, all CTS and switchcraft electrics with hardwired 1950’s loom… and it sounds it! I’d never been fussed about the burstbuckers I’d heard in some Gibson standards I had tried but in this thing they grunt and bark just like they should and they clean up lovely when you roll down through your CTS pots. The build is great and the Matt finish is lovely, especially on the (extremely playable) neck. The board is Indian Laurel. But if I hadn’t read that, I’d swear it was a good rosewood… the only minor niggle is a bit of rough paint finish near parts of the binding… but genuinely I do mean it’s minor and the pros majorly outweigh the cons. Having been left pretty flat by every Gibson electric guitar I’ve ever laid hands on in the past, this thing massively out-punches its price point! I can’t believe this guitar is a made in China Epiphone. It is unbelievable.

Steve C. - 14/11/2021

Unbelievable flame top and the best quality Epiphone I've ever seen and the sound is as least as good as if not better than the 3 Gibson's that I've owned, which I didn't expect. (Including a custom shop model) Does total justice to the '59 tribute name and then some. I'm never ever selling this. Mine does need a little fretwork to make totally perfect and a good fretboard clean up and oiling, but these are fixables and it plays better every day and the satin look and feel is very special, again even compared to a Gibson I in my opinion. The fretboard wood itself also feels a little thicker than on previous Epiphones and is much more Gibson like in feel.
