What we say:

At A Glance

The Epiphone Masterbilt Frontier is a noteworthy recreation of a classic. Fans of Gram Parsons may recognise this as being his model of choice for many years. The solid sitka spruce top sings beautifully with the solid maple back and sides. The pearloid split block inlays look impressive and stand out along with the distinctive Rope and Cactus pickguard. A Fishman Sonitone Preamp opens up a world of versatility and makes this instrument a great choice for the performing musician. The Iced Tea finish completes the package to give this an historic aesthetic but with incredible modern playability.

Features We Love:

Fishman Sonitone Preamp

Adding a high class preamp makes this guitar perfect for the touring and performing musician. The volume and tone controls are easy to access making small adjustments on the sly no problem at all. The tone of the guitar is realistically captured and does justice to the beautiful natural tone.

Rope and Cactus Pickguard

Arguably, this is one of the most unique pickguards around. The Rope and Cactus design pays tribute to the original with the glorious colours and intricate design. A very special feature for those who like the smaller details.

Epiphone Masterbilt Collection

This highly esteemed collection from Epiphone has been producing incredible instruments since 1931. Nowadays they produce a custom level of quality at an achievable price point for players seeking an extra special kind of instrument.

Highlights:

  • A great asset for any touring or performing musician
  • The unique Rope and Cactus pickguard

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 5/5 (2 reviews)

This was a display guitar with some cosmetic imperfections (no pickguard and one chrome tuner instead of gold) which I was fine with. I actually prefer no pickguard - why restrict the wood?! I AB'd at against a few brands and it just felt and sounded right. A great strummer with a well-balanced sound and an almost 'liquidy' treble to it. I have yet to rely the fisherman electronics yet (no battery and you have to remove the strings to insert it) - the Epiphone website says it's Presys, the shop sites say Sonitone.
