What we say:

At A Glance:

Returning to its classic design, responsible for its relevance and embrace by the guitar world, comes the SG Standard '61. This model has shaped genres and generations since its release.

In 1961, the Les Paul was put on hold and an all new design was developed, resulting in what we now know as the SG or "Solid Guitar".

Features We Love:

Slim Taper Neck Profile

The neck profile of a guitar is greatly important to how it feels when playing. The Slim Taper shape on this model offers comfort for the player and gives access to the higher frets allowing you to reach all the way to the top of the fretboard when you're rocking out! However, this is a Gibson after all, although named 'Slim Taper' there is still plenty to grab on to.

60s Burstbucker Pickups

The 60s Burstbucker pickups selected for this model offer heat and sizzle. With this guitar you'll be suited to playing Blues, Crunchy Rock, and great sustained leads. It sounds wonderful!

Pros:

  • 'Slim Taper' neck sits perfectly in your hand
  • 60s Burstbucker pickups offer blazing tones and sustain for days!

Overall Rating 5/5 (12 reviews)

So pleased I stopped dithering, finally got off the fence & bought this guitar. The sound is beyond all of the demo videos I watched on YouTube, etc. I've got a guitar that's a keeper, what more is there to say.

Fantastic guitar. Insanely resonant and I’m a big fan of the film taper neck. I’m a rhythm guitarist and it has elevated my sound in the mix tenfold. But due to the neck placement, ease getting up and down the fretboard and Humbuckers that want to fly off the handle, it would also make an amazing lead instrument

Great guitar and tone. The case was damaged but replaced

Liam F. - 22/5/2022

The finish was lighter than I expected, not so dense, but very appealing. Unlike my '096 Gibson SG Special, is not neck-heavy. Neck profile is neither too slim or thick - just right. The Burstbuckers are the main reason for purchase. The only modification I've made is replacing the strap buttone with Schallers.

Easy transaction and swift delivery, well packed, just what I needed coming out of Lockdown. The light weight of the head does not make the guitar droop, as it did on a previous 1976 SG, I once owned.

This is a really lovely guitar to play. Well balanced, beautiful sound and comfortable.
