Manufacturer's ID: SIG-GTR-000M-15L+

In the late 1960s the situation for US guitar manufacturers became difficult: guitars that were made in Japan, looking very similar to US guitars, were flooding the market but at a much lower price. These guitars increasingly endangered the US manufacturers dominance on the market, and a few American companies reacted to that development in an appropriate manner: They did not take any legal steps but instead launched a counter offensive. That’s when “Sigma Guitars” was born.

The guitar is the shape I wanted, after struggling with a dreadnought since starting to learn 18 months ago. The only problem was the set-up, which was poor, with a 4mm gap at the 14th fret. Also there was a bow in the neck, and one of the string heights had to be altered. This cost me £35 at a local luthier. I could have sent it back, and asked for the adjustments to be made, but I figured that the postage both ways would have cost me just as much. The guitar is fine now, and certainly more comfortable to play.

Amazing sound from such a lighweight guitar
