This imposing instrument is the new Signature model for Meshuggah's Fredrik Thordendal. Meshuggah are widely known to have completely rewritten the rulebook on modern metal and this 8 string behemoth is the kind of equipment Fredrik needs to do just that.
This large 27" scale length beast has neck-through construction for awesome amounts of power and sustain. The neck is made from 7 pieces of Maple and Walnut, joined by two Ash 'wings' to make up the original shape body. This type of build is increasingly normal with contemporary metal axes: the strength and precision required by the genres require such efforts. The fingerboard is Rosewood and has 24 jumbo frets and no fret markers.
Thordendal has long been a user of Lundgren pickups and this model features a pair of M8 open coil models. These are ceramic and have real power and clarity to them. Harmonics just spill out whilst low end notes preserve their attack. They are just perfect for Meshuggah-style riffing in fact!
