The Ibanez AS53 in Tobacco Flat is a fantastic hollow-body guitar that's built to rock. Ibanez Artcore guitars are a credible and sensible choice for players on a budget looking for a good quality and well finished hollowbody instrument. They are affordable but they aren't 'cheap' versions of more expensive models. They are their own range with their own feel, vibe and sound that adds a lot to the integrity of the Ibanez brand. As you may be able to tell, we are quite taken with the AS53! We think it's an excellent playing instrument by anyone's terms. Whether you need an affordable gigging guitar or want a reliable 2nd instrument, this will step up to the plate with looks, playability, vibe and attitude.
Features We Love:
Classic Looks
The AS53 has a full sized semi-hollow body made of laminated sapele which is bound on both the front and back. A 'flat' finish (matte & textured by the wood grain) gives this stripped back guitar a really cool vibe. This is echoed by the open coil pickups and singular volume and tone controls.
Pickups
These open coil pickups are ceramic Infinity units, the same as you'd find on an RG model which is a real shredders guitar! These are much hotter pickups than you'd maybe expect to find on a semi-hollow guitar and can do smooth soft tones or push some heavy gain! Due to the semi-hollow body you can run into some problems with high gain but you may be surprised just how 'rock' this guitar can sound!
