The Seymour Duncan SSL-1 Vintage Staggered Pickup is an exact replica of the original Alnico V Stratocaster guitar pickups. The same type of magnet wire is used, as well as the same number of coil windings. The staggered rod magnets are hand-ground, then aged by the exclusive Dun-Aged process. Lacquered bobbins and cloth-braid hookup wire complete the vintage look. Every detail is included to duplicate the bell-like tone and the high-end bite that made the vintage Strat pickups famous.

Specification

Vintage-correct true single-coil for warm instruments. Recommended for country, pop, surf, rockability, blues, ska and classic rock. Seymour Duncan's most popular single-coil for Strat. The hand-ground Alnico 5 magnets and moderate windings (Heavy Formvar wire) yield a bright and punchy tone with vintage output. Perfect for players who need accurate traditional single-coil tone, especially with clean and mildly distortede amp settings. Compared to the APS-1, the SSL-1 has a more focused "bell" tone with a light bass response. Comes with waxed cloth hookup cable and vintage-style "keyed" bottom plate. For warmer toned ash, alder or basswood body instruments. Works especially well with rosewood finger-boards.

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 4/5 (1 reviews)

Pickup is nice, looks great. Sound wise it is bright (as you'd expect from the description) with fairly low output and with a bit more midrange than I was expecting.
