What we say:

At A Glance:

Understated and iconic. These are two of the many suitable epithets for this absolute classic. Martin & Co have this as one of their cornerstone guitars and have done since the 1930s. The bracing, the dovetail joint, the nut width, everything about this is what has gone on to become known as 'the acoustic guitar': it really has been that much of an influence on what came after.

Features We Love:

Dreadnought Body Shape

Martin's Dreadnought body creates a rich tone with plenty of depth, clarity and character. The larger body also makes it great for strumming, giving a consistent volume and even tone without impacting your dynamic range.

Modified Low Oval Neck Shape

This neck shape is suited to those with smaller hands or who prefer a slimmer neck. With this model, you'll be able to play for hours on end without hand pain getting in your way.

Highlights:

  • Dreadnought body shape is great for projection and volume
  • Neck profile sits comfortably in fretting hand

A dream come true to finally own a Martin guitar and after trying many different models the D18 stood out as the perfect one for me. Clear, bright treble and beautiful bass response whether strumming or fingerpicking and perfectly set up. A big, big shout out to Mikey at the Birmingham store who was such a great help and took so much time and care to make sure everything about the once in a lifetime purchase went smoothly.

Very happy bunny. D18 is a forever guitar. Love it.

Maybe the best Martin of all regardless of price

The Martin D18 standard is just awesome, first strum was just heaven and reminded me of how a good quaility accoustic should sound like. Cant fault it in any way

: A once-in-a-lifetime purchase that everyone at Guitar Guitar Newcastle really helped make happen, I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Everyone who buys a Martin talks up the fact that it's a Martin - and as guitarists we all know the heritage and cultural value. But what's often not said, or is lost in the noise, is just how good they can be purely and simply as a guitar when you find a good one. Buying a guitar is a highly-subjective thing. Every player is different. I was always told to buy the guitar you can't put down. Welll, in the end I couldn't put this one down. This D-18 was simply head-and-shoulders above anything else I tried in the store - and that includes far pricier models, and several other pricier Martins. That's not putting them down - they'll find good homes and owners who love them just as much, I'm sure. But for me, this 'the one.' It's absolutely outstanding - and I can't stop playing it.

Fabulous guitar, thought long and hard about buying an expensive guitar but glad I did. After a set up by GuitarGuitar where action was lowered and strings replace with Martin PB 11's it played like a dream and sounds beautiful (especially when I hit the chords right!!). All in all a fantastic guitar well worth the money.

Fantastic sound and surprisingly light in weight. Lovely neck and a joy to play. Prefer to my D35 ........just sounds much clearer.

My 3rd Martin guitar and own many acoustics of other brands and rate this D18 as the best of the lot. Good quality case to protect it too. Due to lockdown ordered online something I would not normally do on a high end guitar but had played one in store a while back. Arrived next day, let it acclimate, then played it for the first time, it was in perfect set up and only a slight tune up needed, and wow. This is easily the best sounding and playing guitar in this range. Even with the medium strings it plays so easily. Have to say I rate it better than my D28. If you are contemplating a D18 get one perfect for just about any style in my mind, and yes its a Martin full quality throughout.

The instrument sounds great and is easy to play. This is a step up from my first Martin which I enjoyed playing. I?ve made the right choice again.

It's a D18 - enough said...

Simon F. - 24/8/2020

Fantastic acoustic! Superb quality. Perfect finish and set up. So easy to play despite the medium strings. Tone is very mellow and balanced. Great for chords and fingerpicking.
