The ultimate overwound Strat single coil pickup, found in the bridge position of the David Gilmour Signature Fender Stratocaster.

Specification

Mr. Gilmour needed a pumped up sound for his famous Black Strat, so Seymour wound what became the Custom Staggered.

It has been, and continues to be, an honor to work with such a legend. The Custom Staggered is a special overwound single coil that strikes the perfect balance between increased output and bouncy Stratocaster tonal character. It will deliver bigger, fatter chords, and will cut through the mix more clearly than a traditional Strat pickup, without losing the sparkle that makes a Strat sound so unique.

Single notes will be bold and loud, and your solos will really sing.Use in the bridge position with pair of Vintage Staggered strats in the neck & middle for the Gilmour style setup.

Or use an SSL-5 in the neck and bridge with a SSL-5 RWRP in the middle for noiseless setup in the 2nd and 4th positions.

The bobbins are built with hand ground alnico 5 rod magnets, lacquered then wound and are wax potted for squeal free performance.

We use modern oval Forbon flatwork (non-triangular) which enables this pickup to fit into any guitar that is routed for single coils.

Overall Rating 5/5 (2 reviews)

I was looking for a vintage sounding bridge pickup with a lot more bite than the ones I had. The fact that it's essentially the SSL-1C (which was custom made for David Gilmour's Black Strat) made the choice even easier for me. Hotter and louder than normal, sounding like it's approaching humbucker territory but still retain the clarity and quack of strat single coils. Brilliant for blues and rock.

True to the description this pickup is awesome, responsive to picking, harmonically rich and loads of sustain
