Manufacturer's ID: 1987X

This 50w reissue plexi has been lovingly crafted to replicate the 70’s tone and aesthetics of the original. It’s unique tonal characteristics are what defined this all-valve amp and they have not changed in this reissue. The 1987XTM delivers the perfect balance of classic Marshall overdrive and glistening clean tones. An additional FX loop gives a modern twist to the amp.

Opt For Loud

Two loudness options mean that you choose between the high gain of loudness one and the deep, cleaner tone of loudness two.

Mix The Tones

From classic overdrive to clean tones that can be mixed using the four inputs for the two loudness options.

Additional FX Loop

Unlike the original 1987, this reissue has an FX loop for you to blend in your favourite FX to your sound.

Back To The '70s

This amp rediscovers the infamous tones of the 70’s and brings them to the modern day.

Customer reviews

Overall Rating 5/5 (2 reviews)

I had been researching Amos that deliver the best possible rock tone for a while. During my extensive search, all roads seemed to lead to the plexi. The one negative that seemed to come up during reviews I watched and read online is that the gain was in the lower end of the spectrum and that this amp wouldn’t deliver high gain. After buying this amp and pairing it with a vintage 2 x 12, I can safely say that this was absolute nonsense. This amp will go as hot as you like, stopping just before total saturation (a sound I’m not overly keen on, but could be easily achieved with pedals). I’ve owned various amps ranging from solid state Marshals, Mesa Triple rectifiers, and vox combos, but the tone you get from a plexi, specifically this 1987x is a tone you don’t get anywhere else. It is the quintessential rock tone but can do so much more. Within the reviews I found prior to buying this amp, the one common theme was that it is loud, so to combat this I got an attenuator (just in case). I have dared to have this amp straight into the cab and I can confirm that this is a terrifyingly loud amp, somehow when you’ve got it on ‘0’ volume it still makes a very articulate noise. I genuinely fear the day I play this thing without an attenuator, but I love that, I know that when I take this amp from my studio and plug it in on stage, it’s going to crush. Well made, great sounding, very pretty amp with vintage vibes all the way up to fairly high gain. 10 / 10.

Amazing sounding amp. Very loud. A bit of a learning curve if you're not familiar with 4-hole Marshalls but worth the time it takes to dial in
