BRAND NEW: Suhr Guitar Masterpieces for 2025

Deliveries of new Suhr guitars from Lake Elsinore are some of the most exciting work days for us at guitarguitar. There’s just something about Suhr: they are beautiful, undoubtedly, but it’s in the touch that you really start to understand how special they are: the feel of the neck in one’s hand; a quick dial of the volume and waggle of the whammy bar as we inspect each newly-anded specimen: it’s a magical ritual that leaves an impression.

If I sound a little bit woo-woo, it’s because Suhrs just have that indefinable factor that differentiates a truly stellar guitar from a merely amazing one. This is a brand thing, by the way, not a model thing: I get this feeling with Classic T’s, Modern Satins…across the board, there’s an elusive - and very moreish - quality to Suhr guitars that more than explains their enduring popularity. I have my preferences, but I’m always a little excited to try another Suhr whenever I see one.

If you’ve yet to try a Suhr, this blog can be your rallying cry to head to your closest guitarguitar store and see what has been missing from your guitar playing life all this time. In fact, keep reading this blog for another minute or two, because I’m going to show you some tasty bits that have arrived. Put these ones to the top of your list, if they are still available…

Suhr Modern T Dark Brown Burst

How do you feel about Tele-style guitars with whammy bars? Well, I kinda love them, and it seems that the team at Suhr do, too!

This gorgeous morsel is the Suhr Custom Modern T in Dark Brown Burst. A couple of my choices today are translucent looking for brown burst finishes, because they’ve just come out so good! This one has a spalted maple top, which offers a distinctly different type of eye candy compared with a flame or quilted top.

The top timber choices continue with a 10-14” compound radius Indian rosewood fingerboard, which houses 24 stainless steel jumbo frets. This is one of those necks that lets you play absolutely anything on it, and the Gotoh 510 tremolo allows a fair bit of whammy excess without the need for a locking nut. The guitar rewards you the more you lean into the playing, proving that a great build with excellent parts is really the key here instead of any perception of ‘mojo’!

Suhr Dealer Select Custom Standard Top 16

This particular example is a bit of a delight for 80s lead guitar fans, with its active EMG pickups and gold Floyd Rose tremolo!

The guitar is part of the Dealer Select program, where certain Suhr dealers are given the occasional opportunity to spec up their own custom orders from options that maybe aren’t available otherwise. For example, this guitar is called ‘Top 16’ and that refers to the choice we made on the timber for the guitar’s top: it was the 16th wood blank, a gorgeous piece of Hawaiian Koa.

The Koa is on top of a two piece Alder body, and we choose the Brown Burst finish to contrast warmly with the gold hardware and to show off that wonderful Koa figuring!

Other special details include a neck made from Pau Ferro, which is not a standard choice at all and all the cooler for it! Blending beauty with function - as all good Suhr guitars do - this is a very special guitar indeed.

Suhr Mateus Asato Classic T

And finally for something both familiar and a little different. Mateus Asato is a well-respected YouTuber, and his signature Suhr model is actually available in a number of iterations. I’ve opted to show this cool Asato Classic T in White because it was some relatively unusual pickups.

Yes, this gorgeous gold and white axe is armed with a set of gold foil pickups made by boutique pickup brand Lollar. This is champagne stuff (suitably so, given the look of the guitar) and there’s a unique and adaptable voice here for any players looking to carve a slightly different niche in their sound.

The Asato T looks very retro, but perhaps it’s retro through modern eyes? I think it’s a timeless blend of class and coolness, and the roasted maple neck is another situation where I’ve played it and instantly said, ‘No, THIS is my favourite Suhr neck!’. Colleagues will be able to tell you how often that utterance escapes my lips, but the point is that Suhr keep making ridiculously comfortable and playable necks!

I’m a sucker for gold anodised guards, and I love Gretsch White Falcons, which I feel this guitar could be a very good sibling to! It’ll fit in at any gig and sound superb.

Suhr

Those are a few guitars from the recent deliveries. There’s more, so if you want to keep exploring, please hit the button at the bottom. I believe we have more Suhr guitars than anybody else in the UK. Now, I say that not as an idle boast, but more because of this: if you are spending Suhr-levels of money on a guitar, it feels to me as though you should have the best selection to choose from, right? And by staff that actually know these instruments well? These factors allow you to really zero in on the differences between models, from a first-hand circumstance instead of comparing specs on websites.

We all know that Suhr guitars are wonderful, but to play them yourself is to truly believe it. Stock will vary from store to store, but we will have wonderful Suhr guitars in every guitarguitar store. Which one will you try first?
