Songwriting Workshop at guitarguitar Newcastle
Published on 05 June 2023
Oh to be able to write a hit song or two… Isn’t that the ultimate dream of every musician?
Whether you’re a bedroom rockstar, a garage band trying to get out of playing cover songs or perhaps your drawer is full of half-written, unfinished masterpieces, we’ve got the event that will help you step up your game: Songwriting Workshop!
Our very own guitarguitar employee, Jack Mylchreest, is going to host an evening focused exclusively on songwriting. Jack is a songwriter himself and a successful one as such! Jack regularly gigs and tours playing his own compositions and he has had his tracks played on the radio, including BBC Introducing and Absolute Country Radio.
During this event, Jack will talk about what inspires him to write and how to get started if this area of music is completely new to you. He will talk about the process of arrangement and building chord progressions from basic to intricate ones. He will give examples of coming up with fresh melody lines, matching lyrics to your song and generally finding your own voice. Jack will talk about ways to record your songs at home, including audio interfaces, speakers, microphones, and more. Jack writes both music and lyrics to his own songs and performs them as a singer-songwriter so he is the perfect person to tell you how it all works behind the scenes! You’ll have a chance to pick his brain on anything songwriting related.
