About Headless Guitars
Headless guitars certainly made an impression in the 80s when Steinberger produced them for the very first time. With their bold look and radical new design, some players loved the new style while others weren't so sure. Even making an appearance in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, they were used a sign of the future from Rufus.
Since then, headless electric and bass guitars have become more common but are still largely an exception to the traditional rule. Many players enjoy the smaller body along with no headstock, which makes them lighter and easier to transport. Modern guitarists love the progressive style that matches their playing and many models contain a zero fret instead of a nut, adding to the unique sound they produce.
Strandberg produces excellent headless electric guitars such as their very popular Boden range. Mayones Hydra is another high-end model that comes in a selection of finishes and the Ormsby Goliath also caters to a similar style of guitarist. Those looking for a headless bass should check out the Steinberger Spirit XT-25.
A selection of our headless guitars come included with a gig bag or guitar case.
