What we say:

At A Glance:

This beautiful Tyler Classic Black has been crafted to be the ultimate fusion of tradition and innovation.

At face value, this may appear to be simply an "S" style guitar, but James Tyler guitars are cherished for their next level craftsmanship. Based around a perfect pairing of an alder body with a quartersawn maple neck, the guitar has tone and sustain at its heart. With pair of JTS5500 single coils and a single Secret humbucker, this Tyler has a wide palette of tones that make this guitar suitable for virtually any genre of music. The 2-Post tremolo and locking Hipshot tuners enhance the guitars precision and reliability.

The Classic Black is an uncomplicated yet versatile design that stays true to what has made Tyler guitars a favourite of professional guitarists.

Features We Love:

James Tyler

James Tyler began his career by performing guitar upgrades and repairs in the early 70s. Over the next 20 years his reputation for precision work grew and he became a go to luthier of top session players in the LA studio scene. In the late 80s the first Tyler guitar was unveiled, James took everything he'd learned from dealing with musicians and used that knowledge to create the ultimate performance guitar. Now over 30 years later, James Tyler guitars are world renowned for build quality, reliability and their unique design.

Secret Humbucker

The James Tyler Secret humbucker in the bridge position is a boutique pickup that was originally designed for Michael Landau's signature guitars. The legendary guitarist requested a medium output humbucker with an upper midrange focus and detailed high end. The result is a pickup that gives the guitar its punch and singing tone, always ready for action, it sounds great for both rhythm and lead playing.

The pair of JTS5500 single coils in the middle and neck positions have been created to work together. The Alnico 5 magnets give the pickups their signature chime and attack, they sound beautiful on clean tones and powerful and precise when overdriven. The middle pickup has also been reverse wound for hum-cancelling in switch positions 2 and 4.

High Quality Hardware

To keep everything functioning at both ends we have a set of Hipshot locking tuners and a very smooth two post tremolo. The tremolo, complete with steel saddles, allows you precise control over your pitch while the hipshot locking tuners will keep your tuning stable all night long.

Who Is It For?

Any player after a modern tweak on a classic design. If you appreciate Japanese quality you'll find this guitar has some exceptional craftsmanship behind it.
